1. General Rule

A cosplay prop must never pose a danger or significant inconvenience to other visitors, staff, volunteers, or the venue.

The K-Heart market and its volunteers have the final say on whether a prop is allowed into or used at the event. If there is any doubt about a prop, it may be refused.

The fact that an item is part of a cosplay does not automatically mean that it is permitted.

2. Weapons & Realistic Replicas

– Real weapons are strictly prohibited.

– Realistic replicas of weapons may also be refused, even when they are part of a cosplay.

The following are not permitted:

* Real firearms.
* Real knives, swords, or other stabbing or striking weapons;
* Realistic firearm replicas.
* Airsoft, BB, or similar weapons.
* Items that could easily be mistaken for a real weapon.
* Weapons that can actually shoot, stab, cut, or strike.
* Any other item prohibited under Dutch law.

Dutch law always applies.

3. Safe Cosplay Props

– Cosplay props are welcome when they are clearly decorative and do not pose a safety risk.

We recommend using light and safe materials such as:

* EVA foam;
* Cardboard;
* Foam;
* Thermoplastics;
* Suitable 3D-printed materials;
* Lightweight plastics;
* Other soft or lightweight materials.

Props must not have sharp edges, sharp points, or other dangerous protruding parts.

A prop can look cool without being dangerous.

4. Sharp & Hard Components

– Props with sharp points or edges are not permitted.

This includes, for example:

* Metal swords with a sharp or rigid blade.
* Sharp knives.
* Sharp spear.
* Metal points.
* Hard, pointed accessories.
* Any other component that could easily injure someone.

Even if an item is not intended to be used as a weapon, it may be refused if it presents a safety risk.

5. Large Props

– Props must not be so large that they obstruct or endanger other visitors.

Please take particular care around:

* Doorways.
* Stairs.
* Crowded areas.
* Queues.
* Photography areas.
* Emergency exits.
* Other visitors.

If you cannot safely carry a large prop without hitting or obstructing other people, the K-Heart volunteers may ask you to store it or leave it at home.

6. Use of Props

– Props must always be used safely and responsibly.

Do not use a prop to:

* Hit another person.
* Stab another person.
* Point it at someone in a threatening manner.
* Throw it.
* Swing it around in crowded areas.
* Chase someone.
* Intentionally frighten someone.
* Block walkways or exits.
* Disturb or interfere with other visitors.

For photo’s, please ask for consent before taking pics and posing with a prop directed at another person.

7. Projectiles & Ammunition

– Props or items capable of firing real projectiles are not permitted.

– Real ammunition and items that could be used as actual ammunition are also prohibited.

This includes, among other things:

* Real bullets.
* Explosives.
* Fireworks.
* Arrows that can actually be fired.
* Darts.
* Throwing stars.
* Other functional projectiles.

Clearly harmless decorative alternatives may be permitted.

8. Electronics, Lighting & Sound

– Electronic cosplay props are permitted as long as they do not create a safety hazard or excessive disturbance.

Please avoid:

* Extremely loud sound effects.
* Blinding or excessively bright lights.
* Unsafe batteries or power sources.
* Smoke, fire, or explosion effects.
* Effects that could cause significant distress or injury to other visitors.

The K-heart volunteers may ask you to switch off an effect if it becomes disruptive or unsafe.

9. Fire, Smoke & Explosive Effects

– Open flames are strictly prohibited.

This applies even when they are part of a cosplay or photoshoot.

Do not bring or use:

* Candles.
* Torches.
* Fireworks.
* Real flame effects.
* Explosive effects.
* Smoke bombs.

Confetti, glitter, and similar materials may also be prohibited due to venue regulations.

10. Do Not Leave Props Unattended

– Never leave your cosplay props unattended.

Do not place them:

* In hallways;
* In front of doors;
* Near emergency exits;
* On stairs;
* In other areas where they could become an obstruction.

If a prop cannot be safely carried around, the K-Heart volunteers may ask you to store it in a designated area.

11. Consider Other Visitors

– Our event may be attended by children and people who are unfamiliar with cosplay.

– Please keep this in mind when carrying and using your props.

A prop that is obviously fictional to a cosplayer may still look realistic or intimidating to another visitor.

Always use your props in a calm, safe, and respectful manner.

12. Prop Checks

– If you are unsure whether your prop is allowed, you are encouraged to contact us before the event.

During the event, volunteers may ask you to have a prop inspected.

The K-heart crew may decide that:

* A prop is allowed.
* A prop may only be carried or used in a specific way.
* A part of the prop must be stored.
* A prop may not be used.
* A prop may not be brought into the venue at all.

The decision of the K-Heart market is final.

13. Violations

– If a prop is used in an unsafe manner, the organization may instruct you to stop using it immediately.

Depending on the situation, you may be required to store the prop or remove it from the event.

Serious or deliberate violations may result in removal from the event.
